How to make your data cooling system more efficient with cooling technologies

The best cooling technology to reduce heat loss from the computer is the use of a cooling system, according to research published in the journal ACS Nano. 

The new paper, by researchers at the University of Oxford and Harvard Medical School, found that “cooling technologies with good energy density, and that are scalable and inexpensive” are the best way to increase the efficiency of a computer’s cooling system.

The researchers found that in order to increase cooling efficiency, a cooling technology must have “good energy density,” which means it should be able to dissipate heat much more efficiently than the cooling rate of a typical computer.

In the paper, the researchers demonstrate that using a cooling solution with energy density between that of a small heat pump and that of an ordinary fan, they could significantly increase the cooling efficiency of an existing computer cooling system by up to 50%.

The researchers note that their method is not the only way to achieve better cooling performance.

Other methods include “electrical cooling” that uses electrical power to increase heat transfer from the CPU to the cooling system rather than using air, and “thermal expansion cooling” where air is pumped into the cooling solution to expand the heat transfer.

Other cooling technologies include “siphon cooling” or cooling from the motherboard and the CPU via a small fan, but the authors found these methods are not effective for increasing cooling efficiency.

“The new cooling technology in our paper, however, achieves high cooling efficiency,” the authors wrote.

“We believe this is because the energy density of our cooling solution is significantly higher than that of traditional cooling solutions.

We believe that the efficiency gains of the new cooling technique, in comparison to conventional cooling, are more than the energy savings gained from traditional cooling,” they continued.
